I would definitely say that the United States has many diverse peoples. For example, we have the African-American population that originated from Africa, and then we have the Hispanic population that came from Central and South America. I know that before we banned slavery in the US, we didn't have very many civil rights movements. Anyone who wasn't white was treated not as well as a white person would be. But thanks to the Civil War, we got rid of slavery, and then slowly convinced America as a whole that people of different color were no different in spirit at all than white people. The only difference was just the color of their skin, which doesn't matter at all! It was the prejudice of white Americans for 200 years that caused all of the issues. And now, we have leaders in attacking and ridding America finally of all of the hate, which is totally unnecessary.
My church is one of those leaders. We have a multi-cultural church, which means that we have all kinds of people in there. Black, white, Mexican, Hispanic, Asian, you name it! We probably have it. We even have someone from Sudan! Anyway, my church is, by accepting all of these different cultured peoples, showing that it doesn't matter who you are, or what you look like. It matters, for my church's case, if they believe in God and Jesus or not. And for outside the church, there are also many other groups that pepper our society with acceptance messages. That is how the US extends its hand to people of different cultures.

I like how you traced the history of prejudices back to slavery. Do you think that racism is a big problem in the United States, or do you think we are past that?
I think that racism, while it is way down compared to 50 years ago, is still a problem in places like the Deep South, for black people, and in more northern places in the US, for Hispanic people. Also, there are always pockets of prejudice for a particular group, or for many groups of people.
