Terrorist Attacks

I know that the US has many terrorist attacks, most outside of the here, but they are still directed at us. There have been embassy attacks in Africa and mainly the Middle East, but I think that I have heard of attacks in Europe, too. Many of our attackers have been extremist Muslims, but we've also had some home-grown terrorists, as well. The attacks have been directed at high-populated places, or certain areas with a high population density, like a military base or hotel, or maybe a 100-story tower with a twin. Who knows where or when they'll happen? Only the main guys behind it. Al Qaeda is the leading terrorist group against the Americans and other civilized countries. They have taken out thousands upon thousands of our people.
The motives of these fanatical people include some of the following: the hatred of our taking things for granted, the hatred of some of our religions (Christianity, etc.), the hatred of the richness of our country, and other horrifying things. Thankfully, unlike some other countries, we have decided to take a stand against the killing and suffering. For one, operatives in the CIA and the military have infiltrated the Islamic group's areas and taken out key helpers with Al Qaeda. We have blown up their buildings and made it harder for them to get into our country and large population density areas, such as airports. In 2002, President Bush declared war on terrorism. It started with Afghanistan, and then branched out into Iraq and other countries all over the world. The US has worked with the UN and European countries, plus Austrailia, to combat the extremists. Since then, we have developed better and more efficient ways to rid the world of these troublemakers, and although there will always be a remnant, hopefully in the future we will have some way to control it.

What do you think about the war on Iraq? Do you tihnk it was a necessary move against terrorism, or a vengeful blunder into more violence?

I think that it was a power move, mainly. I know that Afghanistan was necessary, because there had to be some kind of retaliation to show that we won't put up with terror in America or in the world. But Iraq... It's tricky. While it was good to create a nation that had a democracy, there have been many deaths. We should've taken out Saddam and put someone in charge in the first Gulf War, instead of waiting 12 years and letting him run wild in the Middle East. Because we did that, I think that Iraq was necessary.
